Beginner Tips: Saving, Stamina and Not Losing Progress

Updated · Getting started

Quick answer

Save only at Crystal Monuments — there's no autosave and one save slot, and dying sends you back to your last save, losing everything since. Rest refills health but respawns enemies. In fights, attack only with a full stamina bar (an empty bar does almost no damage) and use your throwing weapons, which run on a cooldown, not ammo. Eat food you find to raise stats, and weapons level up as you use them. There's no difficulty setting.

Saving and dying

How it works
Where you save Crystal Monuments only
Autosave None — no checkpoints mid-dungeon ✅
Save slots One ✅
Rest Refills health, clears bad effects — and respawns enemies ✅
Death Back to your last save; everything since is lost ✅

The most common beginner mistake in Steam threads is simply not saving. Treat every monument as a must-use.

Getting around without a map

There’s no map — only a compass and landmarks. Ways to move faster (⚠️ from one guide):

What it does
Wing Altar A teleport point, roughly one per area
Wing Stone Fragment Consumable: teleport from anywhere to any Wing Altar
Travel Crystal Fragment Consumable: back to the last Crystal Monument you used

Clearing the end of a dungeon usually opens a shortcut, ramp or lift back toward the start. Follow the walkthrough for the area order.

Secrets

The island is full of hidden walls: if a wall looks off, press interact on it. Some stone doors in the full game open with a thrown blade. Opening every secret door is its own achievement (Concealed Passages) — see the checklist.

Coming from the demo?

Demo saves don’t carry over, and the starting area changed (enemies, secrets and items moved). Uninstall the demo so you don’t launch it by mistake.

FAQ

How do I save in Queen's Domain?

At a Crystal Monument (the save crystal), choose Save. There are no autosaves or mid-dungeon checkpoints, and there's a single save slot.

What happens when you die?

The game reloads your last manual save. Everything since — items, levels, opened doors — is lost. Save at every monument you pass.

Does resting respawn enemies?

Yes. Resting at a monument refills health and clears bad status effects, but brings enemies back. Resting and saving are separate options.

Is there an easy mode?

No — there are no difficulty options. A 100-reply Steam thread asks for one; the developers haven't announced any.

Why do my attacks do no damage?

Damage depends on stamina. Swing with a full bar for full damage; spamming with an empty bar barely scratches enemies. Wait, then hit.

Do throwing daggers run out?

No. Throwing weapons work on a cooldown rather than ammo, so use them constantly — throwing while an enemy winds up an attack is close to free damage.
